RCMP investigating after child approached by stranger in Spaniard’s Bay

There has been another incident of a child being approached by a stranger.

On Wednesday evening the RCMP in Bay Roberts received a report that an elderly man in a vehicle approached a youth in Spaniard’s Bay and offered money.

While walking along Rectory Avenue in the town a youth was approached by an elderly man driving a black Chevrolet SUV. The man stopped, spoke to the youth and offered money, which was not accepted. The man further insisted and the youth again declined and walked away. The man departed the area in the vehicle.

The vehicle is believed to be a black Chevrolet Equinox. The youth described the rims of the tires as white and yellow.

Police conducted patrols in the area but did not locate the vehicle. Police are interested in speaking with the driver of the SUV to determine his intentions. The investigation is continuing.
