RCMP Investigates Robbery, Impaired Driver is Arrested at the Scene

RCMP are investigating after a robbery that took place at the Easy Street Pub in Clarenville on November 28.

While police were at the scene investigating that incident, an individual, unrelated to the robbery, was arrested for impaired driving.

Shortly after 11:00 p.m. on Saturday night, officers received the call of the robbery. A man, wearing dark-coloured clothing with a hoodie that was covering his face, entered the business, jumped the counter and stole a quantity of cash. He departed the area on foot.

While police were on the scene conducting the investigation, a truck pulled onto the parking lot. Police observed the operator exit the vehicle and observed signs of impairment. The 29-year-old Clarkes Beach man failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to the detachment and provided breath samples that were nearly twice the legal limit. He was released from custody and is set to attend court on February 25, 2021, to face charges of impaired driving. His licence was suspended and the truck was seized and impounded.
