RCMP Investigates damage to Construction Zone #nltraffic

Early on Friday, RCMP Traffic Services East responded to a report of damage in a construction zone located on the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Salmonier Line.

Police attended the scene and observed pilons spread all over the roadway and pieces of signs and sandbags that left a trail of debris in the eastbound lanes. Police suspect a large commercial-type vehicle ran over the items in the construction zone.

The driver, who did not remain at the scene and who failed to notify police of the collision, left a dangerous path of destruction for other motorists. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the driver.

The investigation is continuing.
