RCMP executes search warrant at home in Carbonear, firearms seized; two individuals charged

The RCMP executed a search warrant at home on Lower Southside Road in Carbonear yesterday and seized several firearms.


Two individuals, 42-year-old Curtis Power and 36-year-old Chad Butt, were arrested and charged.


Five individuals were arrested.


Inside the home, police located and seized a number of firearms and various weapons.


Chad Butt was wanted on a warrant of committal; he was arrested without incident. The co-accused in the assault investigation, Curtis Power, was also arrested without incident. Both are charged with assault and assault with a weapon. Butt remains in custody, remanded until his next court appearance, which will take place in June. Power was released from custody and is set to appear in court at a later date.


Three other individuals were released without charges.


The investigation is continuing with additional charges anticipated.
