RCMP Conducts Traffic Stop, Finds Cocaine

The RCMP conducted a traffic stop conducted by Harbour Grace RCMP on April 23 and discovered a quantity of cocaine.

Fourty-nine-year-old Tanya Hanlon of Carbonear is facing charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking following.

The traffic stop was conducted at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Danny Cleary Drive. Officers suspected the vehicle, a H2 Hummer, contained drugs. Bay Roberts RCMP and RCMP Police Dog Services attended the scene to assist in the investigation.

The two occupants of the Hummer, both women, were arrested. Police Service Dog Grinch sniffed out a quantity of cocaine in the vehicle. Officers seized the drugs and the Hummer. One woman was released from custody without charges and the investigation is continuing.

Officers executed a search warrant on Hanlon’s residence and found further evidence consistent with drug trafficking.

Hanlon was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Harbour Grace Court August 12, 2020 to face a charge of possession of cocaine and possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine.
