RCMP conducts traffic enforcement near Rocky Harbour #nltraffic


On Wednesday a team effort involving RCMP Traffic Services West, the Rocky Harbour RCMP, Highway Inspectors from the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, and Park Wardens with Gros Morne National Park netted several individuals for not following the rules of the road.


In total 130 vehicles were checked.


Two separate traffic enforcement initiatives were conducted near Rocky Harbour. The first initiative consisted of a checkpoint on Route 430 in Rocky Harbour where motorists were checked for licence, registration and insurance and vehicles were checked for equipment and safety compliance. The second initiative was a speed detection operation that was conducted south of Rocky Harbour.


Two commercial vehicles were removed from the road after failing a roadside inspection, there were 15 tickets issued for speeding, two tickets issued for tinted windows, and one for improper passing.


The driver of a pickup truck was issued a notice for a vehicle inspection due to a lift kit, oversized tires, and other deficiencies.
