RCMP conducts enforcement on the Northern Peninsula #nltraffic

On Thursday RCMP conducted enforcement along the Northern Peninsula Highway (Route 430) from Deer Lake to Parsons Pond.

A number of traffic tickets were issued and an ATV was seized and impounded.

While in St. Paul’s, police stopped a commercial truck with expired plates. The driver was ticketed for failing to log his hours of operation as required in a log book, failing to produce an inspection report and operating an unregistered vehicle.

Due to the fact that the driver failed to keep a log of his hours of operation and was unable to show the number of hours worked, he was prohibited from operating a commercial vehicle for a 72-hour period.

While in Rocky Harbour, an officer observed an ATV operating on the roadway. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, a 35-year-old man from Rocky Harbour, was driving an uninsured ATV on the road with a suspended licence. He was ticketed under the Highway Traffic Act for driving while suspended and operating a vehicle without insurance.

In addition, seven drivers received speeding tickets and driver received a ticket for operating an unregistered vehicle.
