RCMP Arrests Two Impaired Drivers #nltraffic

RCMP arrested two drivers for impaired driving following reports of driving incidents in Bay Roberts and Bay Bulls on Sunday.

Shortly after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, Bay Roberts RCMP received a report of a suspected impaired driver. The caller informed police that they had to pull onto the shoulder of the road to avoid a collision by an oncoming vehicle that was swerving all over the Main Road in Bay Roberts.

The driver, a 37-year-old Georgetown man, showed signs of alcohol impairment and was arrested for impaired driving. He was transported to the detachment and provide breath samples that were two and half times the legal limit.

The driver was released from custody and is set to appear in court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving, operating a vehicle while suspended and operating a vehicle without insurance. Police seized and impounded the car and issued a further suspension of the man’s driver’s licence.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. that same day, RCMP in Ferryland were dispatched to a single-vehicle rollover collision in Bay Bulls. Police attended the scene and found that the driver, a 37-year-old Witless Bay man, was impaired by alcohol. He was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were more than twice the legal limit. His licence was suspended and the truck was seized and impounded. The man is set to attend court at a later date.
