A 22-year-old man has been arrested after a concerned citizen called 911 to report a crash on the Conception Bay Highway on Thursday morning.
Shortly before 1:45 a.m., police responded to a report that a truck had crashed into a pole on the Conception Bay Highway, resulting in downed power lines. The caller reported that the driver had exited the vehicle on foot, in the direction of a nearby residence.
Police located the driver, a 22-year-old man, and observed signs of intoxication. A breath test was administered, and the results were more than 1.5 times the legal limit.
He was arrested for operating while impaired. His licence was suspended, and the truck was seized and impounded by police. He is expected to appear in provincial court in February.
