RCMP Arrests Impaired Driver After ATV Collision in Piccadilly
The RCMP in Bay St. George arrested a 21-year-old Piccadilly man for impaired driving causing bodily harm following an all-terrain vehicle collision in Piccadilly on April 14.
At approximately 9:45 p.m., police responded to a 911 call reporting the collision. While en route, police met an ambulance heading back towards Stephenville that was transporting an injured female passenger and learned the driver and ATV were no longer at the scene.
Police attended the location of the collision and spoke to a number of bystanders who informed that the driver of the ATV appeared to be impaired and fled the scene on his ATV.
A short time later, officers located the driver and the ATV at a residence in Lourdes. The man was injured and was transported to Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital. Police accompanied him to the hospital, continued the investigation and arrested him for impaired driving causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of a collision. A blood sample was collected from the driver at the hospital for analysis of the amount of alcohol in his blood.
