A 40-year-old woman was arrested by Port Saunders RCMP on Saturday after she fled on foot from officers and was later found to be in possession of cocaine and other paraphernalia associated with illegal drug trafficking.
At approximately 7:21 p.m. on November 1, a Port Saunders RCMP officer on patrol along Main Street spotted two individuals running away from police. One of the individuals — 40-year-old Angela Marie McCarthy of Corner Brook — was located by officers hiding outside a nearby residence.
McCarthy was arrested without incident, and a search resulted in the seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine, multiple knives, a cellular device and other items consistent with drug trafficking activities.
McCarthy is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, failure to comply with a probation order, two counts of failure to comply with a release order, and theft under $5,000.
She was held in custody to appear in provincial court over the weekend and was remanded.
