RCMP have charged a 20-year-old man after a report of a stabbing at a Gander residence on Wednesday night.

Cameron Angell of Noggin Cove was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The victim was at the James Paton Memorial Regional Health Centre receiving treatment for his injury when police received the call. Officers attended both the hospital and the residence and learned that the victim had been at a gathering earlier in the evening when he was allegedly stabbed by Angell.

Police say Angell left the home on foot prior to police arrival and was located a short time later walking on a roadway in Gander. He was arrested without further incident and, upon a search of his person, police located a prohibited weapon.

His next court appearance is set for Feb 2, 2021.

Angell and the victim, who was treated and released from the hospital, are known to one another.
