Rain to change to snow across the Avalon Peninsula

Rain over the Avalon Peninsula will change to snow today. Rainfall amounts of 15 to 20 mm is expected. For the Northern Avalon Peninsula and St. John's 10 to 15 cm of snow is expected. Up to 20 cm is possible over higher terrain. The rain will change to snow near noon today and continue until late this evening.

Precipitation over some coastal areas may remain as rain longer than others, especially along the Southern Shore.

Winds are expected to gust to 100 km/h this afternoon to this evening for the Avalon Peninsula Southeast and Bonavista Peninsula.
