St. John’s residents will have an opportunity to provide feedback on proposed municipal planning changes related to the University Area Neighbourhood Plan during a public hearing later this month.

The amendments would redesignate and rezone land within the University Area Neighbourhood boundary to align with the vision and goals of the neighbourhood plan. They also include changes to the text of the Municipal Plan and Development Regulations.

Residents wishing to submit written objections must do so by 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2026.

If no written objections are received, the public hearing may be cancelled under the Urban and Rural Planning Act.

If proceeding, the hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, in the Foran/Greene Room on the fourth floor of St. John’s City Hall.

Residents can attend in person or participate online through Zoom. Registration is required for virtual attendance and is available through the City's University Area Neighbourhood Plan project page.

Written comments can be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk by email at cityclerk@stjohns.ca or by mail to:

P.O. Box 908

St. John’s, NL

A1C 5M2

Submissions must include the sender's name and address. Comments will become part of the public record and be included in the Council agenda when a decision is considered. Identifying information, including names, will be removed before comments are released publicly.

Additional information about the proposed amendments and public hearing is available at engagestjohns.ca/university-area-neighbourhood-plan.

Residents can also contact the Planning and Development Division at 709-576-6192 or planning@stjohns.ca.
