Public Consultation Open on Proposed 20-Year Forest Management Agreement in Central Newfoundland

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is seeking public feedback on a proposed 20-year Forest Management Agreement and Commercial Timber Licence for a non-exclusive forest area in Central Newfoundland.

The consultation gives residents, stakeholders, and organizations an opportunity to provide input on the future management of the region's forest resources.

Provincial officials are encouraging participation from those with interests in forestry, environmental conservation, recreation, wildlife, and sustainable resource development.

According to the province, public feedback gathered during the consultation period will help inform decision-making on the proposed agreement and licence.

The consultation remains open until July 24, 2026.

Residents can review information about the proposal and submit comments through the provincial engagement portal at EngageNL.

The proposed agreement would govern forest management activities within the designated area for the next two decades if approved by the province.
