Provincial election officially underway

Newfoundlanders and Labradorians will head to the polls on October 14, 2025, to elect members to the 51st General Assembly of Newfoundland and Labrador.


Premier John Hogan visited Lieutenant Governor Joan Marie Aylward to ask he to dissolve the House.


All 40 seats are up for grabs, and 21 seats are needed for a majority government. Currently, the Liberals have 19 seats, the PC Party has 14, the NDP has 1, there are 2 independents, and 4 seats are vacant.

The Liberal Leader is John Hogan, who represents the district of Windsor Lake. Tony Wakeham is the leader of the Progressive Conservative Party and is running in the district of Stephenville-Port au Port, and the New Democratic Party Leader is Jim Dinn, who is running in the district of St. John's Centre.
