Province Invests More Than $531,000 in West Coast Fire Protection

The Newfoundland and Labrador government announced more than $531,000 in funding on Sunday to help purchase a new fire truck and firefighting equipment for departments on the province's west coast.
The funding, announced by Pleaman Forsey, includes:
$444,349 for a new fire truck for Pasadena Fire Rescue.
$53,878 for new equipment for the Steady Brook-Little Rapids Regional Fire Department.
$21,345 for equipment for the Bay St. George's South Volunteer Fire Department.
$11,513 for equipment for the St. George's Fire Department.
Forsey was joined at the announcement by Hal Cormier, Pasadena Fire Rescue Acting Fire Chief Kevin Garnier, and representatives from the three other fire departments receiving funding.
The provincial government said the investment will strengthen fire protection services across western Newfoundland by improving emergency response capabilities and providing volunteer firefighters with updated equipment to better protect their communities.
