The Newfoundland and Labrador government is investing $70,000 in St. John’s Pride to help expand programming, outreach and support services for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities throughout the province.
St. John’s Pride, the province’s largest Pride organization, organizes the annual Pride Festival and works year-round to promote visibility, inclusion and community connections for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. The organization also provides support and capacity-building assistance to Pride groups and events across Newfoundland and Labrador.
The provincial funding will help St. John’s Pride strengthen its operations and expand programming in partnership with other community organizations.
As part of its plans for 2026, St. John’s Pride will work with Trans Support NL and other groups to increase inclusive programming in rural and remote regions of the province. The organization also plans to partner with Gander Pride on a rural Pride social event aimed at building stronger connections between rural and urban communities while creating additional opportunities for support, well-being and inclusion.
The funding announcement comes as Pride celebrations continue across the province.
The provincial government also confirmed that Premier Tony Wakeham will take part in the annual St. John’s Pride Parade on Sunday. The parade, organized by St. John's Pride, is scheduled to begin at noon and is one of the largest Pride celebrations held in the province each year.
