The provincial government is providing $45,000 in funding to support the 2026 Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival.

The investment was announced by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation, which says the festival plays a key role in celebrating Newfoundland and Labrador’s musical heritage while creating opportunities for local artists, attracting visitors and strengthening the province’s cultural sector.

Organizers are preparing for the festival’s 50th year, which will once again bring together performers and audiences from across Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond for a showcase of folk music, storytelling and community engagement.

Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation Minister Andrea Barbour said the Folk Festival is a cherished cultural event that highlights the creativity, talent and traditions that make the province unique.

Barbour also congratulated the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Arts Society on its fundraising efforts in support of this year’s festival and said the government’s investment reflects its commitment to supporting arts and cultural experiences that bring people together, strengthen communities and showcase the province’s cultural heritage.
