The provincial government says the 2025 Jeux du Canada Games delivered significant economic benefits to Newfoundland and Labrador, generating hundreds of millions of dollars in economic activity and leaving a lasting legacy for the province.
Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation Minister Andrea Barbour said the Games produced a strong return on investment, citing findings from Sport Tourism Canada’s STEAMPRO economic impact assessment. The report attributes the impact to visitor spending, operational costs, and strategic investments in infrastructure that are expected to benefit the province for years to come.
According to the assessment, the Games generated more than $272 million in economic activity nationwide. Of that total, more than $193 million was generated in Newfoundland and Labrador, with approximately $180 million occurring in the City of St. John’s.
