Protest today at the Whitbourne health centre

There will be a protest held today at 1:00 pm at the emergency clinic in Whitbourne.

Residents are airing concerns about the closure of the emergency department at the Dr. Wm H. Newhook Community Health Centre.

The facility provides services to approximately 20,000 people in Whitbourne and the surrounding area.

Eastern Health says the facility offers ambulatory care services, EKG and holter monitoring, blood pressure monitoring, intravenous medications, chemotherapy, diabetes education and family practice clinics. A dietitian also visits the centre on a regular basis.
