Prime Minister Calls Three Federal By-elections for Aug. 31

Prime Minister Mark Carney has announced that three federal by-elections will be held on Aug. 31, 2026, to fill vacant seats in the House of Commons.

The by-elections will take place in the electoral districts of Beaches—East York, Chicoutimi—Le Fjord, and North Vancouver—Capilano.

The announcement, made Sunday, officially begins the campaign period in the three ridings, with voters set to head to the polls at the end of August to elect new members of Parliament.

The by-elections are scheduled for Monday, Aug. 31, 2026.
