Port Saunders RCMP Investigating Fatal Snowmobile Crash

Port Saunders RCMP is investigating a fatal snowmobile accident that occurred over the weekend, claiming the life of a 66-year-old man who was traveling alone.

On Friday, February 28, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a snowmobile crash in a remote backcountry area near Eddies Cove West. Two snowmobilers discovered an overturned snowmobile and found the unresponsive man trapped beneath it.

Due to the location’s inaccessibility, police traveled to the scene by snowmobile with those who reported the incident. The man’s body was recovered and transported from the wooded area before being taken to Western Memorial Hospital in Corner Brook for further investigation.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been engaged, and the investigation remains ongoing.
