Police arrested 41-year-old James Boone after conducting a traffic stop when they noticed a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction on a one way street in Port Saunders.

When police conducted a traffic stop, the driver indicated that he was not from the area and was unaware of the street’s direction. The driver also provided false information to police regarding his name, date of birth and province of residence.

Police conducted an investigation and determined that the driver was a resident of a nearby town and was the subject of an outstanding arrest warrant issued by the RNC. In addition, he was not permitted to operate a motor vehicle as a condition of a release order.

The accused was arrested and returned to the local detachment in Port Saunders. He was transferred to RNC custody and will attend provincial court at a future date to face charges of failure to comply with release order conditions and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

The investigation is continuing, with further charges possible.
