Police find body of drowned swimmer in McKay’s
UPDATE:
The body of the 17-year-old male has been recovered by the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team and is being transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
EARLIER STORY:
Divers with the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team are searching for the body of a 17-year-old male who drowned while swimming in a swimming hole referred to as Cow Pond in McKay’s on Saturday afternoon.
Bay St. George RCMP says while swimming with a friend, the teen went underneath the water and never re-surfaced. Other individuals, who were also swimming in the area, searched the water for the teen and called for help.
Police, local firefighters and the Barachois Search and Rescue attended the scene.
The youth was not from this province.
