Police officer charged after SIRT-NL investigation

The SIRT-NL has charged a former RCMP officer with various offences.

Albert Charles Michelin has been charged with touching the body of a person under 14 years of age, for a sexual purpose, sexual assault, causing bodily harm, and breach of trust.

The officer was stationed in North West River in Labrador.

SIRT-NL was notified of the alleged offences by the RCMP.

The officer was an active police officer at the time of the alleged offences.

The subject has been released on conditions and will appear in court date on June 22.
