Police officer assaulted after responding to disturbance in Sheshatshiu

RCMP I. Sheshatshiu has laid criminal charges, including two counts of assault on a police officer, against a 21-year-old Sheshatshiu man after police responded to a disturbance on Saturday morning.
At approximately 8:30 a.m. on February 14, 2026, RCMP in Sheshatshiu responded to a disturbance involving two unwanted people at a home on Matshateu Street.
Sheshatshiu RCMP identified and arrested a 21-year-old man at the scene. He resisted his arrest and assaulted an officer.
He was later released on an Appearance Notice, and is expected appear in provincial court on April 9, 2026, to face charges of:
• Assault on a police officer – two counts
• Resist or obstruct a police officer
• Mischief under $5,000 – obstruct enjoyment of property.
