Police make arrest after drug trafficking investigation in Labrador

The RNC has made an arrest in connection with drug trafficking in the Labrador West region.

In February, officers made an arrest in connection with the impaired operation of a motor vehicle after stopping a male operating a snowmobile in Labrador City.

Officers also seized a quantity of unknown substances at the time of the arrest. At the time of this event, the 47-year-old male operator from Wabush was charged with impaired driving offences, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, flight from police, and resisting arrest.

The unknown substance was sent to a laboratory for analysis. Last Thursday analysis confirmed the substance to be cocaine.

It was determined that the quantity seized indicated possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine.

The accused was located and was placed under arrest and charged with possession of controlled drugs and substance for the purpose of trafficking.
