Police Dog Deployed After Hit-And-Run Collision in St. John’s Early Thursday Morning

One driver was shaken up and one driver fled the scene after a two-vehicle collision in St. John’s early Thursday morning.
Firefighters with the St. John’s Regional Fire Department were called to the intersection of Allandale Road and Mount Scio Road just after 12:10 a.m. for a collision.
Crews arrived to find the driver of one vehicle and learned the other driver fled the scene of the collision. The collision caused the pickup to collide with a traffic light pole at the intersection. The driver was shaken up due to the incident.
As a result of one driver fleeing the scene, a police dog with the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary’s police dog services unit was called to track the individual involved. It is unknown if the person was located at this time.
There were no injuries to report as a result of the collision. Both vehicles sustained moderate to significant damage. Traffic was also temporarily disrupted due to the collision until a tow truck arrived.
If more information does become available, it will be provided at a later time.
