Police dog Avalon tracks down thief

On Wednesday evening RNC officers were patrolling in the east end of St. John’s when an officer observed an individual removing wheels from a vehicle on a commercial parking lot on Logy Bay Road.

When the suspect observed the police entering the parking lot the individual began to flee the area on foot.

With support from RNC police dog Avalon, the suspect was located a short time later.

The individual was taken in to custody without incident and now the 38-year-old male from St. John’s faces charges of theft under $5000.00. The accused was released to appear in Provincial Court on a later date.
