Police Charge Man in Natuashish with First-Degree Murder

Police have charged 33-year-old Etienne Jacobish of Natuashish with first-degree murder following a shooting in the community on January 3.


On Sunday afternoon, police on patrol came upon an injured individual on a roadway in Natuashish and determine he had been shot. The man was transported via ambulance to the local clinic where he died later that evening.


Jacobish was arrested on Sunday evening and was held in police custody overnight. Officers with the RCMP Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Services attended the scene on Monday and are continuing with the investigation. Jacobish was charged with first-degree murder and attended court via teleconference. He was remanded into custody and will attend court on February 15, in Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
