Police assist individual suffering from self-inflicted injuries

The RCMP assisted a person experiencing a mental health crisis on Tuesday.
An officer from RCMP Traffic Services East was parked in the parking lot of a local business and was approached by a motorist in need of urgent assistance.
A passenger in the vehicle, who was suffering from self-inflicted injuries, was in need of immediate medical treatment and mental health support.
The individual was apprehended under the Mental Health Care and Treatment Act to prevent further self-harm.
Officers provided first aid until emergency medical services arrived.
The individual was transported for medical treatment and mental health care.
