A 28-year-old man is facing multiple charges after a stolen vehicle fled from police and later crashed in the west end of St. John’s early Wednesday morning.
Officers responded to a report of a stolen motor vehicle shortly after midnight. At approximately 1:05 a.m., police spotted the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over and fled the scene.
A short time later, the vehicle was located on a residential street where it had collided with a parked car and a tree. Officers found the suspect in the back seat of the vehicle and took him into custody.
The man has been charged with flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, operation while prohibited, possession of stolen property, and breach of probation. He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court this morning.
