Police arrest irate man in Jerseyside

The RCMP has arrested and charged 28-year-old Sherlock Stacey after receiving multiple reports of an irate man in possession of a firearm who was attempting to break into a number of residences in Jerseyside on Saturday.

On Saturday morning police received the initial report and responded.

The suspect was prohibited from the possession of firearms. The accused was located at a residence on Fort Louis Road while attempting to break into the home.

He was arrested without incident.

An imitation firearm, which was presented as being a real firearm during the reported incidents, was found during his arrest and was seized. An individual who uses an imitation firearm in the commission of a criminal offence can be charged with criminal firearms offences.

Stacey appeared in court via teleconference over the weekend and is charged with firearms-related offences, break and enter, mischief (damage to property) and breach of probation. He remains in custody at this time.
