Perry Trimper Resigned from Liberal Party #nlpoli

MHA Perry Trimper has resigned from the Liberal Party.

The MHA for Lake Melville will run as an independent candidate in the next provincial election.

Trimper added that he appreciated the opportunity to have worked with the Liberal Team.

On October 20, Trimper said homeless people in Happy Valley-Goose Bay were "choosing" a risky lifestyle, in the wake of a video that showed a homeless Inuk man being thrown to the ground during an arrest in the town by a municipal enforcement officer.

On October 26, Trimper announced his resignation as parliamentary secretary and informed he would not be seeking re-election in the next provincial election.
