Pedestrian sent to hospital after being struck by vehicle in the west-end of St John's on Friday

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in St. John's this afternoon, resulting in reported minor injuries.
The incident occurred just before 1:00 p.m. at the intersection of Topsail Road and Hamlyn Road. According to witnesses, the pedestrian was attempting to cross the intersection in a crosswalk when they were struck by a vehicle turning westbound onto Topsail Road from Hamlyn Road
Firefighters and paramedics responded to the scene, and the pedestrian was transported to hospital for assessment. The extent of their injuries is still unknown.
Traffic was disrupted at the intersection until the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) arrived to investigate the incident.
