Pedestrian sent to hospital after being struck by SUV in the west-end of St John's on Friday evening

A pedestrian was sent to the hospital on Friday evening after being struck by an SUV in the west-end of St. John's.
The incident occurred at around 6:45 p.m. in the parking lot of Cowan Plaza, located at the corner of Topsail Road and Burgeo Street.
A witness told Newfoundnews that they were walking to their vehicle, which is parked in front of the Brookfield PharmaChoice, when they witnessed the female pedestrian crossing the parking lot while on a crosswalk, and an SUV struck her, throwing her to the ground.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and found the pedestrian laying in the parking lot in front of a small SUV. Firefighters with the St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) attended to the pedestrian until paramedics from NL Health Services (NLHS) could arrive. Once paramedics arrived on the scene, they loaded the pedestrian onto a stretcher and took them to a nearby ambulance. The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and was not reported injured.
