Pedestrian Dies After Collision With School Bus in St. John's

A 77-year-old man died Friday morning after being struck by a school bus at a busy St. John's intersection.


Police responded to reports of a pedestrian-vehicle collision at the intersection of Allandale Road and Prince Philip Drive at approximately 10:30 a.m.


The pedestrian was pronounced dead after succumbing to his injuries.


The driver of the school bus was not injured, remained at the scene, and was co-operative with investigators. Police said there were no passengers aboard the bus at the time of the collision.


The RNC said the investigation remains ongoing and is not believed to be criminal in nature.


Collision reconstructionists are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who has video footage from the area, including CCTV, dash camera or cellphone recordings captured before or immediately after the collision, to contact the RNC at 709-729-8000.


Witnesses or bystanders affected by the incident may experience secondary trauma and are encouraged to contact 811 if they require mental health support.
