Provincial Parks will be implementing temporary wildfire prevention measures.

To mitigate risks during this volatile time, Provincial Parks will be implementing the several temporary measures.

In parks with campgrounds, smoking is restricted to graveled campsites only. Park patrons are asked to responsibly dispose of cigarette butts by placing them in a vessel of water.

Smoking is banned in all Day Use Parks and Park Reserves, including the T’Railway Provincial Park.

Burning devices are banned, including propane fire pits. Gas burning devices are permitted solely for the purpose of food preparation.

Generators are also banned, with exceptions for those required for documented medical conditions.

These measures are in place effective immediately and for the duration of this weekend. The Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation will provide an update on Monday, August 18.
