NL Health Services had to provide a large sum of money after former CEO Pat Parfrey was removed from his post.
Parfrey, who earned a salary of $436,000 as CEO under the terms of his employment contract, served a combined 3.7 years (43 months) in senior public service roles within the provincial government and NLHS.
Following the end of his employment, Parfrey is owed $242,628.76 in payments, which include severance and earned entitlements such as accrued vacation and statutory holiday pay. Of that total, $176,076.60 relates to severance and was determined in line with the conditions of his contract, the government said.
Ron Johnson, the former vice-president of Digital Health, Innovation and Research and chief information officer at NLHS, has been named interim CEO.
Details about compensation for the interim CEO have not yet been finalized, with officials saying that those figures will be confirmed once the contract process is complete.
