Overdue snowmobiler found deceased near Anchor Point

On Saturday a 46-year-old man, who was reported as being overdue on his snowmobile, was located deceased in a body of water near Anchor Point.

Saturday afternoon the RCMP received the report of the overdue snowmobiler. The man was travelling alone and was expected to be on his way home from a cabin near Eastern Brook Pond.

Prior to contacting police, local residents were searching the area. While officers were securing additional searchers, the man and his snowmobile were located in open water in a pond near Anchor Point.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is engaged and the investigation is continuing.
