Over 1000 costumers left without power in downtown St John’s, Saturday night

People in the area of Hamilton Ave last night were left without power after a transformer that sparked causing live wires to hit the ground.

Parts of Alexander Street and Hamilton Ave were closed for a period of time as Newfoundland Power employees worked to restore power to costumers. It is unclear what caused the power outage at this time.
