One person was sent to hospital following a single vehicle crash in Mount Pearl on Saturday morning.
Emergency personnel got the call at around 7:50 a.m. reporting a single vehicle crash on Topsail Road near Commonwealth Avenue.
Firefighters used extrication tools to remove the injured person the vehicle, the occupant was then placed on a stretcher and placed aboard a nearby waiting Newfoundland Health Service ambulance where he was then taken to hospital.
The vehicle that was travelling down Mount Carson Avenue towards Topsail Road did not make his turn to come to the traffic lights at the intersection, the vehicle then travelled through a grassy patch where it crossed over a sidewalk and coming to a stop after colliding with a utility pole on the other side of Topsail Road.
Topsail Road just East of Commonwealth Avenue in both directions along with traffic coming down Mount carson Avenue by Dunluce Crescent were closed as police investigated the crash.
The pole the vehicle collided with had to be replaced due to having damage which also slowed traffic going East on Topsail Road after the vehicle was towed from the scene.
The vehicle involved suffered significant damage as a result of the crash. The occupant of the vehicle was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.
