One person was rescued following a cliff incident on Southside Road in St. John's on Monday evening.
Emergency personnel, including the St. John's Regional Fire Department (SJRFD) High Angle Rescue Team, responded to the View Point lookout in Shea Heights shortly after 6:00 p.m. Upon arrival, crews learned that an individual had reportedly fallen off the cliff. Firefighters set up equipment to begin rappelling down the steep hill for the rescue. Large spotlights were seen illuminating the area about 50 feet up the hill from Southside Road, and a rescue basket was used. Approximately two hours later, the individual was safely rescued and transported to a nearby hospital.
