One person taken into police custody following three-vehicle crash in Portugal Cove on Friday

There were no serious injuries to report following a three-vehicle crash in Portugal Cove on Friday.


Firefighters with the Portugal Cove - St. Philip's Volunteer Fire Department responded to Portugal Cove Road near Windsor Heights just after 9:45 p.m. on Friday.


The collision occurred when an eastbound pickup truck collided with a car and then a pickup truck that were both travelling the same direction. Both of the pickups sustained significant damage.


The driver of one vehicle was taken into police custody as a result of the crash; it is unknown if any charges have been laid at this time.


Police were doing a checkpoint further east from where the collision happened on Portugal Cove Road, which happened to be the same direction the driver was travelling when the accident occurred.


Luckily a dog who was reportedly in one of the vehicles at the time of the crash was also unharmed.


Traffic travelling eastbound out of Portugal Cove on Portugal Cove Road was closed as police investigated the collision.
