One Cat has Died And Residents Displaced Following Morning House Fire in Downtown St. John’s

Firefighters were called to a home on Alexander Street at approximately 6:20 a.m. on Sunday morning.

As crews responded, information was received that multiple people were trapped in the home. Firefighters from central fire station were first to arrive on scene. Three people who had evacuated were in front of the home. The other two people were assisted out of the rear of the home.

Smoke could be seen coming from the home as crews arrived. They quickly laid an attack line and extinguished the fire inside the home.

Tragically, one cat died in the fire. At least two people who were inside the home sustained what appeared to be minor injuries as a result of the fire.
