Officials provide update on fire near Churchill Falls

Premier Furey and other officials are providing an update on the situation in Churchill Falls.

The bulk of firefighting equipment has been deployed to Labrador. Four water bombers, helicopters, and crews numbering 40 people are fighting the fire. A request has been issued for subsequent resources from other provinces. There are currently seven fires in Labrador.

Yesterday, the fire near Churchill Falls headed toward the town rapidly.

The plant in Churchill Falls is operating as per normal. There is a plan in place to evacuate employees in Churchill Falls should the need arise.
