At 8:30 pm on Saturday evening, an RNC officer approached a suspicious vehicle on Campbell Avenue in St. John’s.

The officer observed the 30-year-old male passenger who was known to the Police and had multiple outstanding warrants. As the officer attempted the arrest the wanted male, the 37-year-old female driver attempted to flee with the male in the vehicle and struck the officer.

The officer was not injured.

Officers caught up with the same two individuals later in the evening and the female driver again refused to stop the vehicle. Officers were able to block the vehicle in and as a result, the female was arrested and now faces charges of, flight from Police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and assault with a weapon on the officer.

The male passenger was arrested on three outstanding warrants and now faces additional charges of resisting arrest and breaching court orders.

The vehicle was impounded.

Both individuals were held for court this morning.
