Officer Involved shooting Salmonier Line SIRT-NL Investigating

SIRT-NL said, “During a police operation on Route 90 yesterday afternoon, an RCMP officer discharged their service weapon. There were no injuries. Following consultation with the RCMP, SIRT-NL attended the scene and commenced an investigation.

RCMP officers from Holyrood and Whitbourne, along with RCMP Traffic Services East, Police Dog Services, and the emergency response team, also attended the scene. The vehicle, a white Chevy Sonic, was involved in what appeared to be a vehicle chase. An RCMP vehicle was involved in the collision during the time of the chase.

RNC officers with the Traffic Services unit attended the scene. Traffic was slowed in the area as crews worked to clear and investigate the scene.
