Nova Scotia RCMP issues emergency alert in all Cape Breton Counties following armed person situation

Nova Scotia RCMP are on Humes Rear Road in the small town of Wagmatcook, responding to a situation involving an armed person who has barricaded himself inside a residence. There’s a heavy police presence in the area. Please avoid to allow investigators to do their work.

The following emergency alert has been issued to people in Victoria, Inverness and Cape Breton counties:

DANGEROUS PERSON with firearm inside residence. RCMP responding. Wagmatcook, Nova Scotia. Residents: Seek immediate shelter or stay inside and close and lock doors and windows. Do not leave a secure location. Suspect last seen at a residence on Humes Rear Rd. Nova Scotia RCMP is responding. Do not provide a ride to anyone asking for one. Do not pick up hitch hikers. Do not disclose police locations. Call 9-1-1 to report emergencies or tips.
